It’s official!  Today I made the public announcement about my intention to train for and run the New Jersey Marathon!  I am so excited and motivated.  It has been so hard to not talk about it the last few weeks, just because it has taken so much of my spare time.  These days, my free time is spent in almost daily training runs (except for rest days on Monday and Friday), at Fitness Together with one of my trainers, or on a long run.  It will be so nice to share with others where I need to be and tap into the support and positive energy of my running community and friends.  I am overwhelmed and so thankful for all of the support in response to the launch posts!  Thanks to everyone who reached out as I mark the public start of this journey. If you have not already done so, you can follow my journey via my social media platforms at the end of this blog post.  I need all of the support I can get.

I wrapped up the day by spending time with my trainer, which in my opinion, is the best way possible to end my day and get the weekend off to a strong start.  It was a great workout, full of new challenges.  Since Fridays are technically a rest day for running, this is when I try to slot in my training sessions.  These are best from an energy perspective.  On these days, since I am not depleting my energy running, I can focus on building muscle and strength.  In today’s session, we did our usual reverse pullups, sidesteps, and free weights, but we also incorporated some substantial core work with bench sit-ups with weight and chest presses.  My trainers are fantastic.  Kabar knows just when to change things up to work a new muscle group and challenge me to try something I have never done before.  Each exercise is already modified.  I feel completely safe at Fitness Together to experiment with different methods of fitness.  The whole staff equips me for success, and I leave every session feeling empowered and accomplished.

I know I wrote a recent blog about needing to increase my calories.  This makes me nervous, which is something I expressed to my entire team, so we will monitor my progress through the end of this month.  Depending where I am at that time, we will make adjustments from there if needed.  I am thrilled to share this journey.  I know it may not always be smooth, but it will always be worth it.
